I see posts in facebook groups all the time asking about the benefits of hiring a photo and video team, so I thought I’d hop on here and share some of the them!
Although this may not be important to some, hiring a photo and video team offers consistency within your deliverables. Typically, teams have the same approach to shooting and posing so you won’t end up with a photo gallery full of classic, editorial images, and an overly edited and posed video. You’ll end up with deliverables that have the same vibe, but captured through the eyes of two seprate people.
Sean and I have shot close to 100 weddings together and have established a workflow that is practically seamless. I do most of the directing while he is capturing those moments in between on camera. If ever I miss anything, he is happy to hop in and get the shot he needs to make the highlight film the best it can be.
Coming from a photographer who has worked with dozens of other videographers all around the United States, it can be difficult on both ends to try and work together and get the shots you need, especially when theres two totally different creative styles happening.
For example, I am a natural light photographer which means I never use artificial light during the day when we are outside. If the videographer I am working with does use artificial light for every shot, it makes it hard for our work to flow properly. It would be best if that videographer shot with a photographer that also uses artificial light!
This one should just be common sense, but having to communicate with one vendor vs. two, makes wedding planning so much easier! When working with us, you’ll only have to sign one contract, pay one deposit, and communicate your vision on one questionnaire rather than having to do those things twice!
