One of the biggest wedding controversies I see online these days revolves around the infamous “unplugged ceremony.” Some argue that they want their ceremony captured through their guests eyes, while others would rather just not have devices popping up everywhere in their professional photos…
While both of these reasons are valid, here are a few pros and cons to consider when deciding whether or not to make your day device free!
Pros:
NO wandering phones, camcorders, point and shoot cameras, and whatever else people use to take photos and videos present in your professional photos
Your guests undivided attention
Nobody posting to social media before you get the chance to
You set the mood for the rest of the day, so your guests know you don’t want to be bombarded by cameras at any point
Cons:
You lose your guests “perspective” of your ceremony and potentially the rest of your day
Unless your photographer offers 24 hour sneaks (like we do :), you won’t have any imagery to share on socials until you get your professional photos back
You don’t get uncle Bobs cool camcorder footage
So there you have it. Some practical pros and cons to an unplugged ceremony! Personally, we don’t have an opinion that swings either way! We try our best to work around phones and cameras present with no definite guarantees…
